| 英文描述 | Maedi-Visna virus is a member of the retroviral subfamily Lentivirinae. The virus causes chronic active lymphoid infiltration in one or more ovine organ systems including lung, central nervous system, mammary glands, and joints. Progressive pneumonia ('Maedi'), encephalitis ('Visna'), hard udder without abnormal milk, and arthritis can occur in the same flock and/or the same animal. A large proportion of the U.S. sheep flock have titers to this virus. Disease has an incubation period of 2 years or more, so older animals are affected. Signs can progress for months or years. Dx by histopathology and identification of the agent. There might be mild hypochromic anemia, hypergammaglobulinemia, and persistent leukocytosis. There is neither treatment nor vaccine. |
